No Truer Words
No truer words have ever been spoken. ” the government isn’t the solution, the government is the problem”, Ronald Reagan. The founding fathers not only knew this, they set up the republic in the way they did because of it. They were correctly suspicious of a power hungry, controlling federal government. You may remember a post I wrote a while back about the corruption of both the FBI and CIA and why they should be abolished. The article linked below says it all! https://www.zerohedge.com/political/fbis-mafia-style-justice-fight-crime-fbi-sponsors-15-crimes-day
I suppose you want to defund the police too?
Why would I want to defund the police? Did you read the article? If govt. entities are used to commit crimes, and supress citizens rights and freedoms they should be eliminated. Any function they were suppose to serve could be handled by other parts of the govt. How did the country survive for over a hundred plus years before either the CIA or FBI were created?
This article could have been written by any enemy of the United States. Instead of ZeroHedge they should call it Zero Proof. Where do they talk about the good things those two agencies do? There are some bad actors out there like drug cartels (FBI domain) and nations like North Korea and Iran (CIA domain) that they work against day in and day out. ZeroHedge never even mentions that, do they? Z
Agree these Agencies are corrupt to the core and have been since Hoover ( not the vacuum cleaner)
So, do you think they should be abolished as CM says? Or are they a necessary evil?
They are NOT a necessary evil. They are corrupt to the core and get involved in all kinds of subversive, treasonous activities against both everday citizens as well as leaders, if they are in the wrong political party or not part of the deep state. ie Donald Trump. The few good things they accomplish can be done by Homeland Security, DEA or any other number of alphabet agencies. Not that they are perfect nor have their failures as well. At least they weren’t corrupt from inception.
Good, so you agree the services they provide are needed. Power corrupts. Any 3 letter agency you put in charge of those services will eventually become corrupt.
By saying you wanted them abolished, I thought you were a liberal with no common sense. Glad to hear otherwise.
If you have followed ANY of my non market posts you would know I am NOT LIBERAL and use common sense, logic, critical thinking and objective analysis in my positions. You may not agree with all my positions but I present them with facts, logic and well thought out arguments.
No Ken, I’m NOT convinced THESE services are needed. Not at the scale currently funded.
But let me be specific.
The police are local law enforcement. The FBI is not.
I would argue this country, and the world, would be better off if the FEDERAL government were scaled by half, for starters. And DOJ needs to be de politicized, like some federal agencies are. Out of the Executive Branch, for example … although one AG and team can be furnished to the WH (my view is we need six or more AGs, by the way, as rivals).
As for the local police … I’m not really sure how effective they are. The visible ones create more havoc than safety setting up (pointless revenue raising) speed traps on lightly traveled roads where cars are well spaced. In denser areas, they CREATE the bottlenecks from rubber necking that amplifies roadway problems. I’m told that detectives rarely solve crimes, but merely document the problems to satisfy insurance adjusters.
No … I would say they (federal law enforcement) are more of a problem than the solution.
Local law enforcement creates more havoc than safety? So you are against the police. I was right in the first place. Try living in a society without police.
How are you right in the first place? That was a comment by another contributor, not me the author of the post. You were not right in the first place. I don’t agree with everything he said but Pedro raised some valid issues. As far as the Justice Dept. it definitely should not be part of the administration. The President has his own legal counsel, the AG is supposed to be the peoples advocate not the political tool of the President. The AG should report to and be accountable to the Judicial branch, ie the Supreme Court not the executive branch. Then the FBI which reports to the AG would also be under the purview of the Supreme Court.
I like those ideas on DOJ and AG!
