What a beautiful Vibrant Happy City up there in the middle of Nowhere deepest Siberia
You hear the word Yakutsk and you imagine a god forsaken desolate place.
This City is so clean and the Architecture so interesting and charming and the Cultural Sites..Museums Art Galeries Opera
Then the piece de resistance …That Ice Park !
This place puts most American Cities to Shame
How in the world did they build such a place way up there at the end of the world on 1000 feet of permafrost ?
Mind Numbing Stuff …and the Human connections top it all off !
You get it fully, FGC. As to how the development here came about, it’s because the region is stupendously rich in resources. You name it, they’ve got it. Just do a search of Republic of Sakha resources.
They tell a story about how the vast resource wealth happens to be here. It’s said that God had a God-sized sack filled with all sorts of goodies to spread over the whole world and had just gotten started on the mission. As he went over Yakutia, it was so freaking cold, even for God, that he just dropped the whole sack right there and went home to get warm!
Will you be able … at some point … to fill us in on those four times you were detained … what they asked and your responses? They probably didn’t believe you the first few times. If you were ever able to point them to your series of pictorial travelogues, they’d “get the picture”.
Yes, some of that story will definitely be shared with the photos of my trip to Tiksi. Coming up, just as soon as I get to it!
