Y’know, I used to think that Jimmy Carter was a down to earth decent guy. That was back in the day when I didn’t harbor strong opinions about either party.
But now I’ve lost all respect for the man. He’s just an ideologue, like the rest of them. Doesn’t give a shit about the country going to hell in a hand basket 🙁
No doubt your earlier impression had to do with his “Habitat For Humanity” PR campaign, when he would put on a tool belt and pretend to hammer nails for five minutes while the cameras clicked. That role allowed him the ethical bonafides to run around the world certifying elections, and using his good offices for dispute resolution. I’m sure his good offices charged a hefty fee.
