U.S. government suffers major national security breach, the consequences of which could be devastating
Some of federal government’s potentially most sensitive national security-related files are now in the hands of an unknown entity likely to put them up for sale.
It’s being reported by Bloomberg and others today that one of the largest IT service providers to the U.S. military-industrial complex has experienced a major cybersecurity breach.
The company targeted is not a household name. But Leidos Holdings Inc. is known for its extensive work with the Pentagon, NASA, Homeland Security as well as other federal agencies and defense contractors. Leidos was the largest federal IT contractor in fiscal year 2022 with $4 billion in services under contract.

I doubt that the US has any secrets. They have all been sold by nefarious bureaucrats, politicians and business men, or purloined by more sophisticated actors for the benefit of her enemies. The most damaging information would have to do with scandalous behaviour by the US government for which they will gladly pay a significant price to keep hidden. In other words, same old, same old.
In that vein, imagine what the US will give to Russia, when the SMO is over, to prevent the dissemination of all the “secrets” Russia has discovered in the Ukraine. I would be surprised if any US nuclear missiles remain in Europe ten years from now.
I’m beginning to think Europe might be the ideal retirement place. It will no longer be significant in the world’s economy, nor in the world’s politics. Good food, good wine, good climate and nice crumbling architecture at a good price. My kinda hangout!
I’m considering Uruguay. Peaceful, low crime, small population, not involved in geopolitical strife.
