Largest Tech Layoffs Since November 2022:
In 2023, we have officially surpassed 170,000 tech layoffs so far.
Since January 2022, we are nearing 350,000 tech employees laid off.
This is the biggest wave of layoffs since 2001.

so coding is a no-future job now. All those millenials f*cked over again. Tech not so cooooool anylonger.

Many/most associations for “tech employees” are made with millennials.
But, like me, there are those that entered this industry in the late 90s and are still associated with it (by the way, are there any other Gold Tenters who are in software/IT, I’d like to know 🙂 )
In my humble opinion, surviving this downturn may not be as hard for millennials, who are still young and “preferred” by the employers. It is us borderline 50 years or older, who have to survive this with utmost caution, with one or more dependent kids in high school and/or college.
Plus the inflation across the board, ESPECIALLY in college education, housing/rents, not to mention FOOD.
