I am sure Hitler’s poll numbers increased after he invaded Poland. That is one reason dictators invaded other countries. Bush’s poll numbers increased after he invaded Iraq. Poll numbers do not make a political action ethical.

I don’t buy the argument that Putin invaded Ukraine because he was protecting Russia. If he did so, then he is some kind of paranoic nutbar since Russia has the largest store of nuclear weapons on the planet and the most sophisticated ICBM system for their delivery. What do you think the support for Hitler was, for Stalin, for Mao? Those polls do not mean a thing except he has the backing of a high percent of the population to carry out his dictatorial and expansionary dreams.
Throughout history, the majority population of countries has supported wild dictators who have dreams of world conquest.
