While both Bitcoin and equities have been stellar performers in 2024, (as have physical gold & silver) both are due to have significant corrections. In the case of equities, most investors and portfolio managers are not likely to sell before Jan.2nd.

Why pay capital gains taxes a whole year in advance, if the market is strong? In the case of bitcoin, since the govt. tracks and expects taxes paid there as well, again the same question applies. Actually, in bitcoins case, since I don’t believe it is likely to be held in tax advantage accounts, like many equities are, there is a bit more of a chance of a correction in stocks before the new year than bitcoin.

At least for those two asset classes, 2025 is likely to look a lot like 2022.
