MURDER: UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot in the chest early this morning outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown, in what authorities are describing as a targeted attack.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:46 a.m. when a masked assailant approached Thompson and opened fire before fleeing east on 6th Avenue.

Thompson was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. Police are actively investigating the case.
