“Scholz is more afraid of angering the Americans than his own voters”
Germany is being de-industrialized, the standard of living in Germany is falling and people’s dissatisfaction with the situation and politics can be seen directly in the AfD’s poll numbers. But the government continues as before.
The EU has decided on the 12th sanctions package against Russia. In an interview with the Financial Times, Al Cook, the CEO of De Beers, already laughed about diamonds: “Even if he wanted to, the average customs officer couldn’t tell if it was Russian by looking at a diamond.”
The Americans control a measly five billion in Russian assets and are pressuring Europe, where hundreds of billions are frozen, to plunder them in any way they can. This would save the Biden administration from having to explain to voters how their tax money is being spent, and at the same time it would shift the fatal consequences of this step – primarily the loss of trust in the euro – entirely onto its allies. This is clear to everyone, and so Europe is still trying to avoid the role of instigator of financial chaos. Now Brussels is focusing on Hungary, looking for a way to bypass its veto on funding Ukraine from the European budget.
