First what’s wrong with the message in the image? The message shouldn’t be about stopping gun violence, it should be about stopping violence, period. For the same reason there shouldn’t be any “hate crime” laws on the books. If something is on the books as a crime, murder, rape, assault, whatever, it doesn’t need a special identifier of hate crime. That just allows for inflammatory, political bullshit to prosecute certain people while letting others off for the same offense. The second thing wrong with the message is the article correctly points out there is no countrywide murder spree. The bulk of the murder epidemic is in a limited number of cities. It is likely that in those high murder rate cities the majority of the guns used to commit those murders were illegal, unregisterd guns.
