It warns that unless the US’s dependence on cars in towns and cities falls drastically, the transition to lithium battery-powered electric vehicles by 2050 will deepen global environmental and social inequalities linked to mining – and may even jeopardize the 1.5C global heating target.
But ambitious policies investing in mass transit, walkable towns and cities, and robust battery recycling in the US would slash the amount of extra lithium required in 2050 by more than 90%.

You can walk or bike to anywhere you want within 5 minutes of your home — after that you need special passes and approvals. Forget going for a drive in the country — that area is reserved for the elite (not the slaves)!

You guys are forgetting that 95% of the people are supposed to be gone by then anyway. And only the 1% will get an EV so no plans for big future production. The rest of you saps that survive get to live in ghettos of 100 square foot apartments with no transport other than a bike or your own two legs. They will happily supply rope for anyone who wants to swing off their new balcony. Enjoy the future!
