The convoy got as close to where Trudeau is staying at the Sheraton Hotel as possible. Police cars blocked off a section of the street in front of the hotel.
Many protestors parked their cars on King William Street, then walked towards the entrance of Sheraton Hotel. Most protestors carried flags or signs.
“There are still workers in Canada who can’t go back to their jobs,” one protestor told The Counter Signal.
A “Trudeau must go!” chant broke out among the protestors who braved the howling wind in subzero temperatures.
Earlier in the day, Trudeau had lunch on Locke Street.
Trudeau’s Liberal caucus is on a three-day retreat before returning to parliament for the first time in 2023.
Last week, Trudeau experienced a similar greeting in Windsor, three hours southwest of Hamilton.
While visiting an auto plant, Trudeau was asked if he regrets his usage of calling protestors in Ottawa “tinfoil hats.”
Trudeau said he does not regret anything he said. He said there were “people out there trying to scare people into putting their own lives at risk and their communities at risk.”
“I won’t apologize for doing that. We kept Canadians safe during the pandemic. Canadians kept Canadians safe during the pandemic in spite of those who were deliberately telling everyone that getting a vaccine is worse than getting covid,” he added.
Trudeau’s coercive vaccine mandates have caused over 10,000 Canadians to suffer a serious adverse effects.
