Recently I’ve read where a narrower margin in the House actually boosts the power of the Freedom Caucus (Jim Jordan & co.), with issues like the debt ceiling directly ahead.
They can’t dodge the votes from this group they need to prevail.
Not sure how this impacts McCarthy, but I gathered his status is now in doubt.
