They still make a little money and pick up some points. You will see them quit usually right before the 4 major Grand Slams so they can save their bodies for bigger payouts and more points. Although The main reason to retire early is to set records winning the biggies and the historical fame that comes with it. Retiring early is nothing NEW. “
