   Or has it already happened with the 13 ema the lowest MA on the chart.

     It struck me that the 13 DMA moving below the 400 DMA (and all the other MAs too) indicates the intermediate cycle low – or the yearly cycle low.
     I don’t know what Sir Surf would think of this idea. Not much, probably.
     Anyway, maybe it won’t happen that way at all. Or may be it will. I really don’t know.
     In answer to your question, yeah, I think we would need a hard washout to see that again. I’ve sort of been watching for signs of one. Am not fully invested right now. Mostly cash. (cash is a position, too)
     And please, I am not a learned one. I’m just an old farm boy trying to understand what the dickens is going on with our economy. Like many others here, I suppose.

     EDIT: The lime green 13 DMA has slipped below the dark green 200 DMA, and the 200 DMA has begun to turn down (zoom thumbnail) A hard washout is not outside the realm of possibility. However, if the 13 DMA reverses back up from here, that leans toward a bullish near term scenario. Just thinking out loud.

     I think it will take a hard washout to set up a new uptrend. Am almost entirely in cash.

   Great chart, thank you SF. More data points to identify a possible cycle low. I’ll bet it doesn’t break the 400 this go-around though.

   Thought I send you some of my ribbon finds. When it compresses means trend change. Gives a good heads up for tops and backtests and then good for into the future lines as it marks the point where traders have decided to go long, some examples here.
