So the Sudanese are going to receive (their government will, the people of Sudan won’t see a plugged nickel) $1600+ for every man, woman and child in that so-called country. Americans get $600.
Trump gave a speech last week detailing why this bill was rotten to the core. Supposedly, he sold us out for the “promises” of a senate “vote” in increasing the $600 to $2,000 – which we all know will fail miserably. Guaranteed. And that there will be a “vote” to remove the 230 protection from FB, Twitter, et al. Also guaranteed to fail.
What a frigging disaster.

Budget Update
-President Trump just invoked the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 while signing the COVID bill, allowing him to redline areas that must be addressed.
-This sends it back to Congress forcing them to 1) repeal 230, 2) cut out the wasteful spending, 3) add $2k.
There seems to be some debate on what this Impoundment Control Act is…does it force them to make changes or just ask them to ?

Hold on there! Trump has now “PUT ALL THAT PORK ON ICE”. It is my understanding that he has put all that “pork spending” on HOLD by implementing the Impoundment Control Act of 1874.
All of that “pork” that was buried in those 5,000 pages (that were not read by any Congress Person) is now put “on ice” until the budget committees of each House debated each line item. Trump is doing a GREAT JOB!
-This is a virtually unknown law and has taken Congress by surprise.
-It also signals his intent to invoke *other* laws in the coming weeks.
The President is sending a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. Sending back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill.

“The president said Sunday that along with signing the bill, he will invoke the 1974 Impoundment Control Act to demand “rescissions” be made to the spending measures. Under the Act, if the president wants to spend less money than Congress provided for a particular program, he can seek congressional approval to rescind by sending a special message to Congress identifying the amount he proposes to rescind, reasons for it, and the economic effects of the rescission.
“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed. I will send back to Congress a redlined version, item by item, accompanied by the formal rescission request to Congress insisting that those funds be removed from the bill,” he said.
Trump also noted that the House will vote to increase direct payments to $2,000 per person and $5,200 for a family of four on Monday, and that the Senate will also start the process for a vote.”
My interpretation is that by acting before midnight tonight, Trump was able to maintain continuity of the EI and Small Business programs that would have expired at midnight while using the 1974 Act to still make revisions to the spending bill.
As President I am demanding many rescissions under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. The Act provides that, “whenever the President determines that all or part of any budget authority will not be required to carry out the full objectives or scope of programs for which it is provided, or that such budget authority should be rescinded for fiscal policy or other reasons (including termination of authorized projects or activities for which budget authority has been provided), the President shall transmit to both Houses of Congress a special message” describing the amount to be reserved, the relevant accounts, the reasons for the rescission, and the economic effects of the rescission. 2 U.S.C. § 683.

Important to consider Congress had the votes to over-ride a veto from Trump. Our biggest problem lies in Congress. Trump could have viewed this as his strongest option in the face of insurmountable opposition [that being the House & Senate]

Presumably he has an agreement with congress to increase the stimulus checks by vote tomorrow.
Senate WILL NOT APPROVE the increase to $2K – the traitor republicans won’t do it. Watch and wait.
