CONCLUSIONS

Vitamin D is almost undoubtedly linked to many viral infections, including COVID?19, although the mechanisms of those associations are still a large field for further research. The widely accepted vitamin D dosing guidelines are still under development, and large?scaled double?blind randomised trials are warranted. However, the huge amount of data collected to date presume that larger vitamin D doses can be safe and potentially beneficial for a majority of patients with regard to COVID?19 infection. In summary, during COVID?19 pandemic, adequate vitamin D supplementation must be implemented in populations where vitamin D deficiency is prevalent. There is nothing to lose from that implementation, and potentially much to gain.
