Americas Silver USAS
Of all Plunger’s picks I bought perhaps the worst: USAS 🙁
I read that it is having problems with Sandstorm, is it better to sell them and move on to something else?
Any idea?
Of all Plunger’s picks I bought perhaps the worst: USAS 🙁
Good question I have a position as well, maybe Sir. Plunger could lend some advise…
Me too…I’ll post a chart in a minute…
I believe they just had a “bought” deal for $25 million (CAD), thereby diluting their stock. It is an ever present danger for all of these micro cap gold/silver stocks. Probably the best thing to is to wait and see how much it will hurt them going forward. AUMN just did this a few weeks ago. I sold them, but they seem to has stabilized at the price I sold them for. It will probably shoot up without me!
I believe the difference between USAS and AUMN is that the primary activity AUMN is involved in is mining their shareholders
Plunger — AUMN was one of Rambus references that looks at chartology vs fundamentals — is there something specific to AUMN that should be viewed for due diligence (ie focus on excessive dilution or executive wages or etc ???)
This is the problem with buying things w/o a full conviction of the story. Stocks don’t just go up right after one buys them, especially when one is buying deep value due to a turnaround. This is a turnaround story. Turnarounds are the hardest to execute, however they offer the biggest return. If one however buys early (when the deep value presents itself) it almost always is going be a rocky ride until the world figures out the turnaround has occurred.
That’s where USAS is at now. Keep in mind Eric Sprott has put big money into this thing $20m+ There is no better stamp of approval than this. I myself have visited their Nevada mine and I know the value they got when they bought this for pennies on the dollar.
I actually bought 25,000 shares more today and I have an order to buy another 25,000 shares at a slighly lower price. What I see is a perfect BT buying point right here:

Plunger I already had USAS on my portfolio, I added some some after your great post, it just worried me about the problems they are having with sandstorm ,I just wanted some reassurance so maybe I increase my position if it drops further, thank you .
And thank you to Atomic Northstar and Kemmrich as well 🙂
Mamare — can you elaborate on the problems with Sandstorm?
I know Sandstorm will be affected by the delay in at Relief Canyon but haven’t found anything (yet) about specific relationship problems between SAND and USAS………..
I had read comments suggesting that there was a relationship between the two companies but they are probably not influencing the dilution of the shares, anyway it seems sandstorm did have some relationship with the deal usas made for the acquisition of Pershing gold.

Wow, Plunger, those are huuuuuge amounts to invest in a single stock!
I have bought some more at $3 today, cost averaging up from my previous buy at $2.736, and tripling the number of shares I hold. I cost average up rarely, but am focused on seeing what the “Point of Recognition” does! My thought is that apart from the chart, Buffett’s announcement might actually help USAS come into Robinhood traders’ radar!
Let’s see.

Well as the saying goes “It’s all relative”… Huge is my Riverside position.
Sir Plunger,
I have never invested in Riverside … did you mean RVSDF?
It is still 70% or so below its all time high.

Everything and everyone has more than one problem to be sure, but does this company not have problems over and above possible problems with Sandstorm?

I never owned it and do not follow it closely. This mini-article may not be reliable, but I often try to sell when I see 2 items of bad news. I do not know about Sandstorm but I think I see 2 items in this news item worth pursuing to see whether true vs exaggerated or false.
((As for a financing, long ago a cousin of mine put it pretty naively but correctly I think. You really don’t know, he remarked. It dilutes you if you’re a shareholder, but it gives the company more cash to use, which if (a big if in many cases) the management is competent is a big plus. So not necessarily either a plus or a negative.))
Am I ever a sloppy writer! If I can I edit over and over again — always have. What I meant to say is that I usually think of selling if a company has 3 — not 2 — bad news items in a fairly short time.
One of my investing propositions in this company is that I believe management is in fact competent. Darren Blasutti is young and hungry. I have seen him speak at a number of conferences and he always stands out confident and speaks with authority despite being younger than most CEo’s. Have you ever seen Sean Rosen of Osisko Royalties speak? Sean is hands down a true expert on whatever he speaks on. I get the same vibe from Darren. He came from Barrick where he was senior VP of Corp development. This is a great background for this job.
He is one of the principle reasons I myself have taken a significant position in this company (at least for me) owning 100,000 shares now. It’s a turn around play with assets that were previously distressed, it’s why it is cheap, but it’s also why I believe it has 10 bagger written all over it if one allows it to run for 5 years

Here are a few comments on Blasutti published on stockhouse, some are positive some negative….let’s hope the negativity will end soon…
