Chaos
Is it just me or is there more chaos evident in everything we care about .
Mental health ( almost everybody is taking some substance to cope with something)
Politics ( Swamp vs Sewer take your pick)
Nationalism vs Globalism
Religion ( everybody fears/hates every one else)
Civil / Human Rights (ditto)
Sports ( the more violent the better)
The Weather ( more extreme in every corner of the planet )
Real Estate Markets (In my experience.. chaos)
Financial Markets ( trending towards chaos)
I rarely watch main stream news . But I have been watching CNN and FOX …just to see how fragmented The Good Old USA has become. and wow its really fragmented.
Has anyone considered the real possibility of civil war in the “United” States ?
That country seems dangerously volatile at the moment. One thing is for sure it sure is NOT United !
If the economy turns down (with the markets) as Plunger is suggesting will that be the tipping point ?
I am on dangerous ground here but would like to have a civil discussion here leaving out ones personal politics .

“would like to have a civil discussion here leaving out ones personal politics .” Good luck with that!
“Has anyone considered the real possibility of civil war in the “United” States ?”
That entire range of topics has been a hot for years now, depending on who you read.
Jim Quinn got an early start at Burning Platform … its all Fourth Turning material.
Armstrong covers most of these too, in one post or another.
Lots of secession movements …. around the world, not just Cali.
But the US market rally since last winter has been hot money FLEEING other markets.
So in that sense, its even worse elsewhere (for now).
What’s not sustainable, will stop. Its just a question of how and when.
Armstrong says 2032. Have to wonder if we get even that much time.
How’d you go broke? Slowly at first, then quickly.
Seems everywhere i read about American demise
About the horrible social climate in the USA
A lot of it from people who aren’t American
I grew up in the 60’s and today seems like a warm up
To what happened then. We did have a civil war
I travel the world. China included. Cameras everywhere. Censorship .
I to this day believe what we have is special
I work with oriole of different color. Different religions
Speak different languages. Somehow It works .
Not afraid of the future. Afraid we will be convinced to stop
Working to make it better
Never going to be easy or perfect. But it ain’t bad
Also good stat is what percent writing in American issues are American ?
And yes I complain. Not to say we suck. But because I want it better
Well as Bucky Fuller once said, Either Adam or Eve could have thrown a rock at one or the other and ended it right there.
Species and civilizations have come and gone, no one is exempt.
The underlying issue is always selfishness, self centeredness is self destructive.
On the other hand, hitting bottoms can be a chance for renewal.
Good old Archie Bunker had it the same. 🙂

The “United” States is in BIG trouble. (Born here, lived here more than sixty years.)
The two world views between the Democrat Left and the Trump Republicans are simply incompatible.
I see only two realistic outcomes: (1) mostly peaceful partition into a Blue Union (Politically correct, “Nanny State”, open borders, radically egalitarian) and a Red Confederation (Limited government, Paleoconservative, sane social policies, no “empire”), or (2) an eventual violent Civil War. Actually we’re already in a civil war and it began when the Democrats and their allies in the media refused to accept the result of the 2016 election.
I don’t see how this can be anything but fundamentally bullish for gold in US Dollar terms.
As a gun owner, who makes sure everyone in the family knows how to defend themselves properly, and a conservative who realizes most liberal or big state types haven’t a clue how to engage successfully in any type of conflict they might start, I don’t see a civil war happening any time soon. If it did, it wouldn’t last long.
Hi, Fully.
I share your concerns because they are not the way we want things to be. We want order, civility, reason, and kindness to be the norm, and we see a world deviating from our ideal. The optimist in me says that it is a temporary aberration which we have seen before, for example in the days of the Vietnam War protests.
This forum is a fine example of how people with opposite political views, opposite religious views, opposite world views can communicate and disagree with one another, yet do so with civility and even respect. It would be nice if the whole world would follow our example.
So, I remain hopeful that people will resolve differences over time, that the current levels of discord will slowly abate, and that the next generation will find a way to solve the problems we are passing along to them. In the meantime, we can recognize that the things that upset us do so because we know it would be a better world without them.
Enjoy the holiday season in whatever way you prefer. Any way you choose is the right way.
Hi Fully and all!
thanks for bringing up your observations and concerns.
we do live in times of great changes, causing more unrest, instability and hopefully
new and improved opportunities.
i assume that there are some people here that were born in the fifties and have
witnesses the rising of “the age of Aquarius” and the new age movement.
i do believe we are going through some very significant processes of change
on a planetary scale.
there are many symptoms for this and in the list that you assembled, are some of the effects that turn up.politics, economy, religion and the tensions that arise
tell a much bigger and unknown story.
the people and systems that manage our human culture are corrupt (this is not new)
basic human values and qualities are becoming extinct, like many other life forms
we might be entering a new phase of this process.
part of the reason that we have been attracted to Gold is based upon this instinct.
it might be getting really interesting!
Too many Jaguars and Ferraris in too many driveways and no roads to drive them on. From 1950 contentment to 2018 gimmee mores.
Globalists will intiate WW if they are challenged. Marxism continues to be the threat of our time. Ironically Russia is no longer marxist and is hated for this.
The West is going down IMHO.
As of now, I think there will be another GFC, followed by QE+++, which should mean another 10 year bull market.
Then I think worldwide systemic financial and economic collapse is probable.
Thereafter, the bad times begin.
Thanks everyone . Although a few political views popped up , We have a civil discussion .
Now back to the charts. It’s ALL in the charts.
I like to see our current times as a period of chemicalization or fermentation – a period of great agitation that always precedes and evolves needed change and/or enlightenment.
Most trends are improving under the surface (although the information age keeps the focus on the failures-that sells) and those trends not improving are in for drastic change or extinction, but life moves on as progress is born of experience.
Keep the faith!
I think the current market environment is a bear trap and Nasdaq 100 will go on to make unimaginable highs, repeating the Tech Bubble from 2000. In the short term, I imagine more downside plunges and capitulation. I’m also looking for PMs to rise in a flight to safety bid, at which point I will unload my Phyzz and buy the QQQ, Nasdaq 100 for the boom. I base my beliefs on my long term Nasdaq 100 vs PM ratio charts which I posted here:

I have to agree that those charts are compelling evidence….keep us posed Sir Harry
