Grand Funk Railroad – I’m Your Captain – Shea Stadium 1971

Listen to this …a powerful metaphor from distant time…which mirrors the Situation we all find our selves in now
BUT just look at the raw emotion….This was US …this is US
………
I’m Your Captain I’m your Captain…but I’m feeling mighty sick
Everybody LISTEN to me…and return me to my Ship
I’ve been lost now..days uncounted and it’s months since I’ve seen home
Can You hear me ? … Can you hear me ? ..or am I All Alone
Am I in my cabin dreaming ..or are you really scheming ..to take my ship away from me…eeeee
You better think about it I just won’t live without it…so please dont take my ship fom me
….The great awakening…..
I’m Getting closer to my home
I’m Getting closer to my home
I’m Getting closer to my home
Great band : Mark Farner is an amazing vocalist.
My favourite records are Born to die (great title) We’re an American band and Survival.
The 70’s will remain forever as the most important period for popular music (To be correct it did lasts from 1968 to 1985)
You Bet Mamare…!!!
I just realized something with this song. It is a metaphore for all of us in these insane times..foreshaddowed by these young visionaries ans adored by their assive audiences of that time
I was in a local Rock Band at that time and we played the hell out of this song ..One reason I am almost deaf today…
I was the Bass Player and this Bass Line is etched into my brain permanently
50 years ago…I had no idea what this was really about…i though it was about some drunkin sea captain
BUT it is US….and our Captain is getting closer to Our Home
He is still going strong …one of the most beautiful voice EVER!
