You can’t use GBTC to chart Bitcoin. While the price is correlated it is only a derivative of the real thing.
Steemit Litecoin Ripple Ethereum are a few more options other than bitcoin. Some offer greater security and privacy (traceable). I figure that our knowledge of all this is comparable to a novice trying to learn how to trade stocks for the first time. I guess one should diversify a bit more or get left behind… At least one would/should have the upperhand with the chartistry.

I bought into Bitcoin back in 2012. Had a quite nice position, then my chosen exchange Mt. Gox went bust. They were the largest exchange at the time if I remember correctly. I still get emails from the laywers in Chinese (!), and the exchange was based in Tokyo 🙂
