1902 Mining Engine
Just for fun. This is an example of one of the stationary engines I collected. It was made in 1902 by the Foos Gas Engine Company. It was a single cylinder and made 22 HP. It had a very unique rotary wipe spark ignition, drip oilers and 61″ flywheels. I was lucky enough to once own it but ended up selling the entire collection to start a business. It ran like a watch. It weighed around 8000 lbs and was originally used in a Colorado mining operation back in its day. The following is a link to a short read about the company.

This stuff runs through my veins.
It’s beautiful.
People like to write about gold’s beauty. Or on endlessly more degenerate levels the alleged beauty of, say, this or that celebrity.
This thing is beautiful.
Must have been heartbreaking to part with. However not so portable and things can become an inconvenience as you grow older.
Thank you.
(And thank you, Fully, for luring Optional into sharing this material.)
Great story. Thanks for sharing with us. I read twice to my enjoyment.
Beautiful indeed …Incredible that over 100 years ago such technology existed
