We are in the early stages in the West of Gold being recognized as an asset that would survive the eventual demise of fiat.
I know it is anecdotal and not scientific but it is interesting that roughly 50% will not touch BTC. The same people don’t hold Gold or PM mining stocks unless they are held in a pension fund that they are not aware of. Gold is not viewed as an asset to most I speak with. A few older men, yes. Some have held Precious Metal assets of in various forms in the past but have abandoned it due to negative returns the past decade or at other times. Gold is still not viewed as insurance against Fiat losing value.
BTC is viewed as a trading vehicle to get rich quick by those who viewed it favourably. Those burned, have returned to general equities as they see the returns. Many don’t have the funds to invest as they are worried about their retirement. The Middle Class is truly suffering and likely to join the working poor as time goes by due to what we are experiencing now.
So for now, the PM miners have us as investors until the tide changes.
One other comparative… looking up bitcoin on kitco today… market cap $1.88 trillion !!
… add up the other crypto’s and probably they total more than all the gold in the banking system.
I must be old… because I still don’t understand the value of bitcoin other than a vehicle for transferring money and speculating… in what I think is a ponzi scheme… also, I don’t believe for one minute that bitcoin is “private”… gov’t can track when money goes into bitcoin and comes out of bitcoin…
on a daily basis… gold is still traded way more than bitcoin…
