Rap is a combination of stolen rhythms with child like, offensive rhymes. Reggae is one song repeated constantly. Punk is a screaming exasperation about rock and roll. C&W died with George Jones. 50s/60s/70/Rock is seventy five/sixty five and fifty five years beyond it’s sell by date. Heavy Metal is rock and roll with a death wish. Religious, if you aren’t referencing traditional hymns of the Catholic Church, is pathetic rock/roll, country nonsense with a devotional twist. The rest is worthy.
I don’t think I disrespected it, Fully. One needs to accept the passing of time. I listen to “The Band” still, but I saw them first fifty years ago. We should allow youngsters to push us off the stage.
I was a DJ for a short time in NC ca late 70s, doing jazz and rock.
For the longest time, I tried to keep up with newer music.
By no means ALL OF IT. Too much rubbish.
But I always found cool new music.
Lately, its gotten TOO HARD.
Shpongle is in a world of its own. They rarely do live shows, but they did get one in at Red Rocks a few years back 2018/19.
Simon Posford (wild hat), Raja Ram (flute, 83yo), Michele Adamson (voc)
the drummer is insane too …
Entheogenic is also near the top of this genre. Psybient is mostly instrumental and the better stuff is engaging background music while doing other stuff. Its what I tune in after dark, to chill out to.
I mentioned The Band, so I will push my opinion of them. Four Canadian boys along with an Arkansas country drummer, that absolutely blew my mind. Check ’em out! They might blow your mind too!
What the hell is Psybient?
