refreshingly rough rural Russia
Gear-Changing Greetings!
Before explaining what I mean by that, here are links to two more galleries from the road trip to Karelia last month:

The bit about ‘changing gears’ is because of what’s happening in my travels now. After spending a few fine days in Moscow last week, I flew from Moscow to Kaliningrad on Friday. The flight was beautiful! It was not a direct straight line, like last time, clearly because of the political situation. Instead of flying across Belarus and Lithuania, we flew north from Moscow to near St. Petersburg, then went out over the middle of the Baltic Sea, following the coasts of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania until we arrived at Kaliningrad. I was able to see landmarks along the way that were familiar to me from the 2018 gas balloon flight over the Baltic Sea, from Germany to Estonia. That story can be found at this link:

My time in Russia on this trip is almost finished. It has been another very good visit. Tomorrow night, I’ll take a bus from Kaliningrad to Vilnius, stay there one night and then fly to Paris. Then, after spending two days there, I’ll fly to Chad. So, there are some big changes coming my way!
Wishing you all the best in whatever changes you experience!

Wait a Minute Goldballoon !
You are an American in Kalliningrad Russia…Taking a Bus to Lithuania ?
Thats WTF #1 !!
Then You are Flying from Vinius to CHAD …as in Africa ?
Thats WTF #2
You are exhausting me on my couch here
so WTF ?
Sheesh
You might recall that I did this same route in April, bus from Kaliningrad to Vilnius. Because of figuring it out then, I was able to plan in advance this time. Hopefully it will go as smoothly this time as it did in April.
What’s with all these WTFs? You remind me of NYC, specifically of an Italian guy in NYC a few decades ago. I was on the sidewalk and heard a good crunch, a rear-ender. The guy in the front car got out, a classic Italian guy in a white T-shirt. He went up to the driver’s window of the car that just hit him, which that driver rolled up as quickly as he could when he saw the dude who was coming for him. The Italian guy just stood there in the middle of the road yelling, WTF?, while also using his hands expertly for emphasis. Then again. And again. After about the 10th time, I walked away.
So, you gotta problem, or what 😉
