I agree Strider — Russia “used” to care about what the West thought but have abandoned this position in favour of moving forward on their own path.
If the BRICS succeeds in setting up a complete alternate system (one that doesn’t involve the Western Deep State) they will have neutered global hegemony.
Perhaps this is why Western neocons seem so desperate to start WWIII (ie to drag them back into the historical political structure before BRICS is finalized).
