Note we have Good Doctors here at the Tent and this poll is not meant to paint them with the same brush as their “peers” .
SO FAR NOBODY TRUSTS THEM…WOW
It’s a perplexing situation. I try to research any anomaly that might crop up in my overall health, although I’m not dumb enough to think I can doctor myself. I would certainly defer to a true medical professional, yet I live in Canada where doctors have been consumed by the gaping maw that is government. It’s odd. I am an admirer of competence and educational excellence, yet without the guideposts of integrity historically determined by the professional organizations, we are left to our own resources. To be frank, I’m pissed about the whole conundrum!
Well said Sir Strider
BUT trust your “Gut”
Pun intended
For the most part, you CAN doctor yourself. Unless your situation is putting your body in big duress, you can usually figure out what your body needs to heal itself. Things get serious (not speaking for Canada which once upon a time had a GREAT healthcare system – I know, I benefitted mightily from it) and I go to an “Urgent Care” outlet. Happened to me recently – suddenly running a fever close to 103, coughing like crazy, getting a bit disoriented. Wife says “we’re going to Urgent Care” and I agree without hesitation. Off we go (not 5 minutes away) and in 20 minutes I’m diagnosed with lower respiritory infection get some meds and get out of there. By bedtime I’m feeling better and on the mend. Dang thing lasted two weeks with cough slowly dissipating over a month.
Didn’t get tested for anything. I described my symptoms, he listened to my breathing with a stethescope and must have heard big distress in my lower lungs.
Anything less and I’m eating/taking OTC stuff or vitamins/and getting lots of rest. Our bodies are designed to heal, not be diseased.
But hey, we all have to make our own decisions, right? Kind of like investing…but without charts LOL
You need to combine “I mostly doctor myself…” with “fuck the medical community, they are murderers”
Probably would have recovered even faster by jumping into the bathtub and pouring in your silver stash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REZEvm4LQ0U
Most of the those options except for the first one work for me.
So not quite All of the Above.
My problem are my knees. Meniscus tears and arthritis buildup.
Bilateral TKRs were recommended five years ago.
But you can “try this gel. It may buy you a few months to a year.”
More like 4. Just did the gel again.
But I’m “too young” to think I can hold out forever, and I’m not getting the exercise I need while I protect my knees in this condition.
Bottom line, managing routine care on my own, but seeing specialists when I’m out of my league.
Precisely.
Hard to do injections and surgery on yourself. I was told that there was a “permanent fix” for my knee’s torn ligament (not bad enough to do surgery!!) Only costs $15K – $25 for stem cell injections which cause the ligament to heal itself. No insurance will cover it – the ONE thing that will heal my ligament.
Fuck the insurance industry and the medical establishment and all their “protocols.”
Stem cell injections will work for your knees. It’s got to be from bone marrow harvested from your iliac crest. And done by the right practitioner. And he’s right there in Scottsdale.
Well that’s nice but I’m in Fort Myers, FL
And the cost!!!
Oh, great – that’s the curved bone of the hip. Harvesting cells from there wouldn’t be painful at all LOL
