A Bill to legalize assisted suicide for the terminally ill is being be introduced to the UK Parliament this week.
In England and Wales. at the moment, it is a criminal offence to assist someone to end their life, but a British Labour Life peer wants to change that by introducing a potentially dangerous Bill to the House of Lords on Friday that will legalise euthanasia.
This will be his fifth attempt, only this time it will be different as he has the backing of the new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
Starmer has said he is in favour of a change in the law and will allow Members of Parliament to vote on the issue according to their conscience.

I came to this understanding after watching my terrific Mom go through a complete horror story with Alzhiemers.
before she lost it all and turned into a screaming raging terrified shell of herself she asked me many times to help her to Go.
At that time there was No Maid I asked and was told absolutely not.
Somone one had decided that a person has to be mentally competent to make that choice …No …the person’s designated Power of Attourney was not allowed to make that decision even if he knew that is their desire .

I too, agree with the Liberals (and FGC) on this one. If my quality of life has deteriorated to the point where I am in constant pain or suffering, then it’s my choice and my right to be able to do this.
I remember there was a case….maybe 20 years ago?….a Saskatchewan farmer had a severely disabled daughter. Her body was so contorted that she screamed in pain on a daily basis. She could not communicate and had multiple other handicaps. Of course, the do-gooders said things like “only god can decide when she dies”. But they did not live with her and did not have to stand by helplessly while she cried and screamed in agony for hours on end. If memory serves correctly, her father petitioned to have her put out of her misery but was unsuccessful. Eventually he took matters into his own hands and was charged and jailed.
I personally believe he did the right thing, and it’s unfortunate that the MAID option was not there at the time.

Eventual outcomes – Application of this policy is a slippery slope and another tool to be used by eugenisists in my opinion.
1) plausible deniability upon the disappearance of political opponents/enemies. Maybe not tomorrow but one day it WILL happen.
2) there are many cases where the MAID option is ‘encouraged’ for people that haven’t voluntarily elected it, and in fact the State does have a financial incentive (esp. in country’s with socialized medicine) to present it as an option – I’ll start posting examples of this.
I initially supported Kervorkian as a practitioner of lethal compassion (as with examples cited above) however, I absolutely loath the idea of state sponsored/assisted suicide. If a private practitioner wishes to navigate the societal/ethical and legal maze toward lethal compassion, so be it – that’s on them and their patient.

The number of cases of MAID in 2022 represents a growth rate of 31.2% over 2021. All provinces except Manitoba and the Yukon continue to experience a steady year-over-year growth in 2022. When all data sources are considered, the total number of medically assisted deaths reported in Canada since the introduction of federal MAID legislation in 2016 is 44,958.

Consider that the same institutions tasked with rolling out the vaccine and the tactics used are also in charge of ‘compassionatly’ administered suicide – no thank you.
