Since October 2023, more than 1,000 John Deere workers have either been laid off or pushed into an early retirement across several plants in Iowa and Illinois.
In many instances, production that these US workers were responsible for has been shifted to new locations in Mexico. The company was founded 187 years ago.
One of our favourite vendors at the farmers market came from El Salvador many years ago. Today she told us that the new president is putting gang members and criminals in jail (where they belong). Those who do not go to jail are deported.
Well, guess which country is welcoming illegal deportees with open arms??
(actually it’s not just the US….but I’ve made my point)
