Only he is FAR better and far moRE incredibe than even the Babe was. He is one of the best Hitters in the Game One of the fastest Runners in the game and when his arm is healthy one of the best Pitchers in the game. In short there has never been anything like him in History.
He played for an average team for his first 4 years …The LA Angels and when he became a free agent this winter he signed a 700 Million dollar contract to play for cross town rivals LA Dodgers.
His first regular season game was opening day yesterday in a game played in South Korea where of course he is worshipped
Well after the game the story broke . Shohei’s best friend and constant companion who is also his interpreter and basically his personal Butler…they are never apart , was said to have 4.5 million in losses with an illegal betting operation which is being investigated by the FEDs in Callifornia ( betting on sports is not legal there even though it is in 40 states.
The Bag Holder ( er Best friend interpreter ) said , after it was made public , that he confided in his buddy that he had a gambling addiction and was in Deep and asked Ohtani to pay his debt so Shohei ( reluctantly) just wired 4.5 Million in his own name to the betting outfit !!
The guy… Ippei Mizuhara..was of course Fired from his employ with the Dodgers wnere he was making 300 K a year. He promises to never bet on sports again and to pay Ohtani back ( probably in cash …LOL)
