The program — dubbed the “Plus One ADU” and part of a push by Mayor Eric Adams’ administration to find a solution to the housing crisis — provides up to $395,000 in funding through the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and $2.6 million in grant funding from New York State Homes and Community Renewal to qualified homeowners to build “accessory dwelling units,” or ADUs, such as backyard cottages, garage studios, attached in-law suites, basement apartments, and attic space conversions.
NYC will pay homeowners up to $395K to build extra dwelling in garage, basement to help ease housing crisis – please understand what they are doing in NY and blaming it on lack of housing (due to all the illegals they are letting into our country) is a plan they designed long ago as part of UN Agenda 21. CA has been squashing homes on citizens property that have, in the cities estimate too much land. It is not uncommon to see a small home built on what used to be property of another home. If you live alone in a house they feel you should be inviting someone in to share your home. This might be voluntary today but the day will come when you will have no choice…..either because of law or out of necessity because owning that home will be made so expensive you will no longer be able to pay to maintain the home. All part of the plan folks. NYC should ship those illegals to DC but instead they will put the burden of their mistakes on the taxpayer in NYC. Well as people move out of NYC who will pay the freight then??
SO — if you ALREADY own a home – the gov’t will GIFT you $400K to create an additional living space in your house — sounds like a GREAT deal for the homeowner & and any children/parents that might move into same…………..How about instead you get $400K but you MUST let a homeless US Military veteran move in so that they can be lifted off of the streets?
