We have been exploring this Tragically Conflicted area from all sides here in the Tent and I am sure you would all agree that we are learing a lot about the situation there from both sides…here is another angle worthy of our attention . A short succinct 4,000 year history of this area is extremely important if we really want to understand . This is The one . Who’s land is this ? You decide
This is really stupid. There are millions of Palestinians right now suffering war crimes by the Israeli government. The Israeli government is torturing millions of Palestinians.
We’ve been conned into thinking either side has the moral imperative. This is a blood feud over territory. Had we kept our pathetic noses out of it, it may have been settled by now. They can both kiss my ass, and blow each other to kingdom come – and by kingdom, I mean the kingdom that Jesus promised us, where these kinds of morons, with their death wishes, no longer plague us.

This group Hamas who represents these people does have a stated goal for the last 60 years of killing every single jew in the area ..They voted for a party who has decided to act upon this goal .

According to this history “Palastinians” are a construct ( about 100 years ago they were artificially created ) . They were previously Jordanians . They have no legitimate claim to this area…which has been controlled by Dozens of Groups and civilizations ..including Israelies ( for hundreds of years). This article argues for the 2 state solution.

Yes and it’s also a fact that Hamas performed the ultimate war crime. An attack on Civilians specifically ( they were not collateral damage , they were targeted .
If you lived in an area where there were millions of people sworn to butcher you and your family and your neighbors and they made good on their promise what would you do …turn the other cheek or retaliate and try to control them ?
A Rose is a Rose by any other name. This Jewish writer wants to divide up the conversation according to the term given to the people thus implying they maybe don’t even exist. And yet there are indeed millions of them (whatever they may be). Lets just agree they are internaly displaced peoples (IDP’s) and then go back to the discussion about how to solve the grievances.
Agree Farmer . I think the point of the article is that Whoever they are they do not have any more historical “rights” to the land than anybody else.
The land has changed “ownership” dozens of times …none of the former “owners” were able to defend it from the next conquerer . The writer makes a point that there can be no resolution until each side accepts the other .
One point missing in this analysis is that most believe that Palestinians today are direct decedents of Philistines. And Philistines and Israelites have been battling each other for thousands of years. The history reminds me of Greece and Turkey/Persia, thousands of years of battling each other, taking land, and taking it back again.
The main difference is that Turkey and Greece have a core area they both believe as theirs and areas they both disagree as theirs. e.g. today various islands are in contention, but you would be hard pressed to find a greek who that Ankara was rightfully Greek or a turk who that Athens was rightfully Turkish. Unfortunately for Israel/Palestine, the venn diagram is fully overlapping, so battle is never ending.
