“If you delay circumstances in which you release information, that can be a success in itself.” — FOIP Commissioner Ron Kruzeniski.

We still don’t know why the dedicated former SHA CEO, Scott Livingstone, suddenly and “voluntarily” resigned from his job in November 2021 in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis. However, it’s not necessarily conspiratorial to question whether this was truly a “voluntary” resignation or even if the SHA and Saskatchewan Party government are hiding behind their own bad Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) law to keep us from hearing from a high-ranking insider about what was really happening then with the handling of COVID-19.

We do know that Livingstone was mysteriously compensated with a whopping $425,000 in 2021-22 — close to double his salary. We know this not because of anything the SHA has told us, but because it is a payment line item in the 2022-21 public accounts that the government is legally required to provide.

It all remains suspicious, but don’t bother asking the SHA or government about it. Neither feels compelled to tell you.
