   As stated in several comments, with high winds, suppose a flying ember got into the car.
   (I assume the windows would have to have been down a bit.)
   Could a fire “starting” from within the car, have resulted in its meltdown?
   Once it got to the gas tank, I think that might be possible.
   I do see those along the highway now and then.
   Certainly if it was a Tesla.

   Well that is pretty damning evidence. No way grass fires can achieve temperatures similar to a foundery meltpot. Anybody still saying this was just electrical fires is not looking at the evidence. Did you notice the dead cat in the engine block? Very strange. Why would a cat shelter inside a raging inferno instead of just fleeing 20 feet to an adjacent place where no fire exists? There is something else going on here we are not getting. That animal was trying to hide from the heat by going into a firebox! To me it suggests the cat was attempting to avoid something coming from above. That’s why it went under the hood beside the engine block of the car. Animals sense things people cannot see. Cats apparently cannot see infrared but instead they are sensitive to it in the form of their skin heating up. Snakes on the other hand can see infrared ranges.
