Garyville in Louisiana is hit by two mile exclusion zone after state of emergency was declared over exploding petroleum plant which sent huge mushroom cloud into sky

  • Those within a one-mile radius of Marathon Petroleum in Garyville were asked to evacuate the area
  • The chemical leaked is naphtha – a flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixture 
  • The plant is responsible for 3 percent of the nation’s total gasoline consumption
