I don’t think states attorney’s can do this. They lack standing here.

DOJ completely weaponized
So the DOJ and FBI both fall under the Attorney General (directly and indirectly). The Attorney General gets appointed by the President (with Senate approval) and the President has the sole authority to fire (or ask for the resignation of) the Attorney General – hence the reason the DOJ & FBI can be weaponized.
Classic case (yet possibly unprecedented) of Executive Branch in dispute with the Legislative Branch. Means it needs to be handled by the Judicial Branch ie. The Supreme Court. How they get there I don’t know. Possibly the House Sgt. of Arms takes custody of the witness and protects him from seizure by the Executive Branch until they get a court order against the FBI & DOJ. If they get their hands on him he is as good as dead.
