communications with Russians
Last night, things became so interesting that I stayed up until 5 AM trying to stay abreast of what was happening in Russia.
I like to stay in good contact with friends all over the world, including a number of people in Russia. Last night, by WhatsApp, I contacted those I know who live in Moscow, as well as someone who lives down near Rostov. I wanted to let them know I was thinking of them, to let them know I was watching everything available to me about what was going on in Russia at that moment and to wish for their safety. Following are the responses I received:
Mel: Thank you Bill. I hope it’s not for long. We’ll see. I will be safe, I am sure. ME: Glad to hear from you, Mel. Yes, I’m sure you will be fine, but I wanted to say so. At the very least, it’s all incredibly interesting. Continued wishes for your safety.
Maria: Everything will be fine. Yes life is soooo interesting !
Dmitry (The others all speak very good English, but Dmitry speaks none. He and I use translators to communicate. I can’t figure out what he means in the second part of this message, but at least he’s OK):
Hi Bill, we are now in Dagestan, we are going to visit us in Krasnodar, yes, everyone is anxious, everyone is scared, it’s not clear what’s going on if you want, I’ll keep you informed
At the moment, we hold the opinion that at him at the head of the dude in England his own, that is, our clever turns began to shoot, he came to Rostov with his guys to figure out why this is happening eventually began to shoot at him with his tank, which are moving towards Rostov
EDIT This just arrived from Dmitry: Tomorrow I will give you detailed information, we are going home from Dagestan. Very tired. I can say with confidence that most of the country now thinks that the Minister of Defense is not a good person. Due to the fact that he did not get in touch, 19 people died. We believe that Wagner Prigozhin is doing a just cause, uh. The vast majority of Russians are grateful to him.
Alexey:
Hi Bill
thank you for your concern, everything is fine with me and my loved ones at this moment
the situation is nervous, it looks like an armed mutiny
but in Moscow, the situation is still relatively calm. police have been reinforced
this is my homeland, I will be with her together. here are the graves of my parents, I will not leave them and I will not leave
This morning from Alexey: the leader of the rebellion said that he was returning his troops to the camps and stopping the march on Moscow
No revolution today 🙂
Will see tomorrow 🙂
thank you for your participation and empathy I am very touched ??
ME: For sure, Alexey. We are all one. I care about you because I care about one and all.
Thnx so much
friendship
I believe that people should live in friendship and peace !
Make love don’t war 🙂
ME: Absolutely! I am all for that!! And lots of it!!!
Thats Great GB
You have a long list of contacts through out the world
Great stuff !
Have you tried phrasing your message in English, then asking google to provide you with a Russian translation to pass along? (As well)
That is how I communicate with my dutch relatives. I get the benefit of reading my words in a language I should know better, and by sending BOTH my relatives and friends can check google’s dutch against what they can read from me directly in English.
They really appreciate the extra effort, and given the time differences, there’s ample time for the translations since fast paced back and forth is rarer.
