Well, once again we cheated death and had a very good time doing it. Rick and I flew all the way to Alaska in his plane and made it back home safe and sound yesterday. Here’s a link to the first day of flying, some 900 miles from Bend to Smithers:

Flying anything is always so amazing to me, such a fantasy. In most of the world, I’m always wondering WTF, why are so there so few pilots? Especially sport pilots of any aircraft for personal pleasure. In Alaska, I do not have that sensation because there are so many small planes, especially on floats. Small planes are always buzzing all over the place.

Smithers is quite a pretty little town, I always thought.
The have a ski hill, too. Haven’t been there for a few decades now, though.
The last time I was in Smithers was in the late 1970s! I used to hitch-hike all over the US and Canada, spending a lot of time in BC especially at that time. On this latest visit, I thought I could move to Smithers, but that idea was definitely influenced if not caused directly by our breakfast waitress… there would be no confusion on anyone’s part as to whether or not her body perfectly described what is known as a woman!
