The stupidity on the part of the administration continues. Who schedules the next meeting between Biden and McCarthy for 5:30 in the eve? Any meeting schedules are obviously being set by the President’s people. McCarthy might suggest when he is available if something was going on in Congress but the President sets the agenda, especially when the ball is in his court as far as compromising on what spending will be cut since the House has already passed their debt limit increase tied to spending cuts. They obviously have either hammered something out already and are just going to have a nice dinner together before announcing an agreement in principle, or the President’s team wants to stall until the last minute and they will come out tonight saying no deal and back to the drawing board. Either way, if there was actually negotiations still to be done you wouldn’t begin the session at 5:30. This is the finishing touches or a bullshit session to run out the clock? Kabuki Theater indeed.

Anyway, I can’t see any path ahead that does not involve brinkmanship. I am not spring loaded to say markets got to drop, but Yellen is doing her Blazing Saddles Cleavon Little imitation of holding a gun to her own head. Yes, If nothing else he may have to wait till the last minute and and overall sense of disaster to get Dems like Sanders and others to go along with whatever small budget cuts the GOP inists on.
