The European Commission has approved a plan put forward by the Dutch government to buy out thousands of farmers in order to meet the EU’s Natura 2000 goals to allegedly protect the environment.
The scheme would offer farmers 120% of the value of their farms and could see around 3,000 “high-emission” farms shut down. The Dutch government also has a proposal to give dairy, pig, and poultry farmers a deal for 100% of the value of their farms should they choose to shut down.

Well this is not just about the closure of farms then, it is also about the destruction of expertise and the skills of existing farmers if they are to be prohibited from farming anywhere else in the EU. What is the sense of that rule unless the real plan is to sabotage farming activity itself? This is vile in its most sincere form and certainly creates doubts about the sustainability of European food systems and supply in the future. How far behind will starvation be in that case? The attack on birds, eggs, meat animals, cows, dairy herds etcetera is already without precedent. Now its all farming activity at the crop level? Lord help us all.
