Given Murdoch’s decision to put TC out to pasture, and the pressure that must have existed from even more powerful sources to force him to do that knowing its PR and financial consequences,
AND
knowing from various sources that he can’t do anything as long as FOX is still paying him, TC isn’t going anywhere or doing anything until some even more FORCEFUL pressures are brought to bear on FOX. You can bet the goal wasn’t merely removing TC from FOX that was the objective, but removing TC from having an IMPACT on politics in the USSA over the next two years. The conversation that Murdoch had with HIS keepers no doubt got into that aspect of it. And even if somehow TC gets his release, to whom would he then be leashed to?
The interesting question is … suppose TC simply violates his contract “unilaterally,” (which is not how the world sees it ATM) what would FOX be able to claim as damages? It was their first move unless FOX had cause. Everyone under the sun seems prepared to cover the income TC would have had coming from FOX, and then some.
It sure would be interesting to get a contract lawyer’s basic take on the case here. TC has a few months (into end of summer at least) to figure out the best solution for him, on FOX’s dime, before he moves.
Great move! He’s swinging for the fences.

Sounds like he has The Best Lawyer working for him…I think he’ll get a release one way or another
