The servers tried to serve Scientology leader David Miscavige 27 times in more than four months, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Miscavige is a named defendant in the lawsuit from three former Scientologists claiming they were trafficked into the church as children.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Julie S. Sneed directed the clerk September 9 to issue a summons for Miscavige through the Florida secretary of state, an alternate means of serving a defendant.
