From what Sundance has said in prior posts, it would have been PERFECTLY LEGAL for ANYONE ANYTIME within twitter’s ranks to choose to ban Trump from Twitter. They are a private company.
The real question is whether anyone from within the Federal Govt PRESSURED twitter to do so.
That would be VERY ILLEGAL, and that is the question that Taibbi and Weiss seem to be dancing around/past. Which is why Sundance KEEPS FLAGGING IT. And the very absence of commentary about THIS VERY QUESTION seems as suspicious to me as anything flagrant that HAS come out.
If we look at everything released so far there wasn’t anything that Twitter decided to do regarding banning, deleting tweets etc. that wasn’t coordinated and orchestrated by people in the administration. First during Obama, probably some Rhinos during Trump and definitely with Biden. It wasn’t just Twitter either but all of the tech social media platforms. Despite their being companies they weren’t private but public and despite the protections they were given(shouldn’t have they should be treated as all publishers are) they can’t be allowed to pick and choose who gets speech and who doesn’t. They almost all have business dealings with the govt. and it should be like govt.contractors who can’t discriminate based on any category.(age, sex, race etc. political affiliation and beliefs should be included as well.)
