While I have been a total skeptic regarding Bitcoin, I have always believed that blockchain technology would prove useful in a number of other areas. The one obvious case was for keeping records of real estate transactions. I could never understand how municipal governments had ever allowed some people to be scammed out of their homes because a criminal would fraudulenty pretend to own someone else’s property. It is mind boggling that since the era of widespread computerization of just about everything, that any chance for fraud in who owns what real estate still  exists, especially since records are kept for tax purposes. That isn’t the use case that I propose in this piece. It seems to me that the best use of blockchain would be to insure accurate, updated voter registration records. Not the actual vote recording and tabulation, that would continue to be done as is, until a better method is devised. I am referring to insuring that every registered voter is recorded on a blockchain that would keep track of who lives where, is only registered once, in one geographical location and is removed automatically upon death. This would go a long way to minimizing voter fraud. You have to be in the official file to vote, you can only vote once and you can only vote in one geographical location in any given election. Even if people somehow get a hold of multiple ballots, whether by accidental mistake or attempted fraud, only one ballot gets counted for any given citizen. The blockchain record can also ensure that only eligible voters (citizens) get onto the registered file. I am not a blockchain nor computer expert but this should be pretty easy for those who are, to figure out and implement.
