Back in the early 70s when I was like 7, my older brother told me we’re “overdue” for another ice age. We lived up in Northwestern Ontario at the time and I kept thinking glaciers were going to invade our small town or that winter would come (that’s normally in October up there) and then never leave. But that fear was soon eclipsed by the more certain prospect of nuclear armageddon. We were a generation that grew up with looming disaster.
