Government
“The government is good at one thing. It knows how to break your legs, and then hand you a crutch and say, ‘See if it weren’t for the government, you wouldn’t be able to walk.'”
– Harry Browne

I miss Harry Browne and I find myself thinking about him from time to time. I had the distinct honor to meet Harry one time. I subscribed to his newsletter back in the 1980’s and he was probably my #1 mentor through his books and writings.
I highly recommend getting a copy of the book that put him on the map. “How to profit from the coming devaluation” Written I believe in 1970. It is as relevant today as it was then. It was the key source that send me along the path of where I find myself today.
Harry had an ability to write so clearly and plainly. Everything he said made so much sense. Harry understood the economy and how things worked better than anyone I have encountered.
I recall he began a contest among his subscribers of who could call the super top to the Japanese market in late 1989. What a sense of timing. It topped 3 weeks later after a 30 year run.
Harry you were such a gentleman…. continue to RIP.
