In Islamic culture it is not uncommon for boys or men to hold hands while walking.
In their culture it means they are friends. It does not mean they are gay.
Erdogan is a Turk, and therefore Islamic.
In India too, where I grew up, in the 80s and 90s, it was common for boys to hold hands.
Those were the gay (as in happy) days, I dearly miss my old school and college buddies.
