Energy costs in London
From a friend that lives there. I asked her if her bills had gone up.. this is Fulham Rd- London …tiny row house – maybe 7-800 sq ft.
Yes, re energy bills. That’s both gas and electricity. Up by about 80%. Energy bill for electricity and gas for an average household is currently £3,549 per year. As we don’t have central heating and so use expensive fan heaters, our bill was around £3k per year before so I expect about £5k of bills for us
I am hearing much higher numbers all across most of Europe.

Smarter businesses that want to stay afloat and keep their employees should allow “WFH” (let folks travel south) or open an auxiliary office in west Africa for the winter. But I’m not sure where. Ghana? Canaries?
Those types of businesses have options but the eclectic shops, cafes, pubs that “make” London do not….
A few Euros (Germans) that I encountered touring Western Canada this Summer, mentioned that they may return for a few months during the Northern Winter to tour the Southern US or stay at the many RV parks there. They would Winterise their homes and have someone check periodically.
I guess that is an option to stay warm. Could be expensive but guaranteed not to freeze in the South.
