How many MLB baseball players, current and retired, got jabbed?
My bet is that only a small percentage of them took the jab.
For calendar years 2016 thru 2021, official death counts for retired/current MLB players and managers
are as follows, in chronological order: (94, 98, 99, 101, 119, 105)
Except for 2020, all of the data points fall on or close to an upward sloping linear trend line.
The standard deviation for the baseline data (2020 data not included) is just under 0.7.
The death count for 2020 (119) is an extreme outlier, deviating from the trend line by 23 standard deviations!
So, what happened in 2020 to cause an abnormal number of deaths? How about a combination of Covid-19 and more deadly than normal flu shots?
What is even more interesting is that in 2021, the death count (105) is right back on the trend line.
So, this suggests that few MLB players, current and retired, took the jab. Otherwise, the death count would have been well above the trend line.
I think that players (and also other folks like me) became quire concerned after learning what happened to Hank Aaron.
He is said to have died in his sleep from ‘natural causes’, only 17 days after taking an initial jab on January 5th, 2021.
Some important points that I should have noted:
1. No Major League Baseball active players died in 2020, 2021, and 2022 to date.
2. It has been reported in the mainstream media (June 25, 2021) that 23 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams had met the 85% threshold of fully vaccinated players.
3. Multiple studies indicate that lifespans of Major League Baseball players, on average, are 5+ years longer than the average U.S. male population.
As one player said, kudos to KC management for allowing for player discretion.
Other teams, perhaps not so much.
Especially now that we see more and more light on the question.
