A GREAT LETTER TO AN MP
From Chris : Feel free to use this as a template
Dear Mr. Williams
I am a resident in your riding and I am writing to voice my displeasure with the current leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada. When our current PM called the election last year, quite frankly I was disgusted by the complete lack of leadership and commitment to sensible, conservative values and policies by the current leadership of your party. I have always voted Conservative (3 decades), but last year I stayed home. The conservative ship is adrift… directionless. Other than new Parties that have popped up over the last few years, there is no voice for people that would like some semblance of normalcy and common sense in their representatives. Those new parties appeared for a very good reason; the Conservative party has abandoned it’s base. The present leadership of the Conservative Party seems completely compromised. He is barely more conservative – or sensible – than the leader of the Liberal Party. That is a damning indictment.
I have seen some sensible voices in the Conservative caucus over the last few months. Lately their voices are getting louder. This needs to continue. There are a couple members in the Conservative Party, that if they had been Leader in the last election, would have formed our current government. I implore you to support those strong voices. The conservative base has been abandoned for a few years, but we are still here. We will whole-heartedly support a strong Conservative Party. We will vote – in numbers – but only for a party with principles. First and foremost (and CANNOT stress this enough) the principle that we are FREE. That we have a Charter of Rights and Freedoms and that Charter was written not for consideration, but for ADHERENCE. Otherwise, it isn’t worth the paper it is written on. The Charter was written to prevent the conditions we currently are experiencing. The Government is here to guide the population, not rule with draconian measures and “mandates”. The current Conservative leader doesn’t seem to understand that, but I can assure you the conservative base, if nothing else, supports adherence to basic principles that the Charter stands for. Without adherence to the Charter, we are at the whims of any and all fanatical fantasies an elected Government can imagine. More importantly, we are at the whims of any and all draconian measures Corporate lobbyists can imagine – and they have quite an oppressive and controlling imagination.
I implore you to consider removing Erin O’Toole from his current position. He has single-handedly made the Conservative party practically irrelevant. A principled strong leader would put the Party back on the map. You know who we want to vote for in your Party. Support him and bring this country back to it’s former standing in the World as the best place to live and thrive – freely.
Most sincerely,
Chris XXXX
